TRANSCRIPT: I'm trained in Internal Medicine, so, my specialty is taking care of adult patients. Specifically, I plan to do women's health. When I'm talking with a patient I first like to just hear what their needs are and kind of discuss what concerns they have and what things they'd like to get addressed while they're here for their visit. And then I just like to do pretty much a comprehensive history and exam and see if there's any other problems that I find that need to be addressed while they're there. And then also just addressing issues of preventative health and what things we can do to live healthy lifestyles to prevent problems from occurring in the first place. It's very important to have a primary care physician so that there is someone that knows every aspect of your health and can tie everything together, make sure that a medication prescribed by one specialist isn't interacting with another medication, focusing on general health and not particular problems so that things aren't missed. It's interesting how being on the other side of things can influence how you see things and so as a patient I've learned that you really want to feel like someone's listening to your needs and addressing them and not blowing off what you feel is important. So I strive to really listen to my patients and understand where they're coming from.
