Dirty Politics Hard Times - A Trilogy of Chartism by Malc Cowle. Audio Book narrated by the author. When Cotton was King, labour was cheap. Less than three men in a hundred had the vote and the few women who'd enjoyed that right had the franchise taken off them. Toil, trouble and degradation for the many, produced vast riches and leisure for a few. Ordinary, and sometimes extraordinary, people refused to accept their servile position in society. They defied Church and State to fight against corruption, for universal suffrage and the basic rights we take for granted in a Parliamentary democracy. These are the tales of just a few.

Once more Besom Ben and his much put-upon donkey, Dimple, find themselves in yet another fine mess.

Another Grim Tale from the author of The Railway Children.

The White House Inn, standing on the high ridge of Blackstone Edge is a famous hostelry on both the Yorkshire and Lancashire sides of the Pennine moors. Edwin Waugh transports us back to the days before railways displaced coaches and pack horse trains and the stink and dirt of smoky factory chimnies despoiled the hill country of Lancashire and Yorkshire. This audio book narrated by Malc Cowle is produced by the Northen Grove Publishing Project in support of the Working Class Movement Library, Salford, M5 4WX.
